Adult Day

What it is

Adult day programs run on weekdays in a group setting. Some focus on social activities; adult day health programs add nursing and therapy. Many serve people with memory loss.

An adult day program can keep someone living at home longer and give a family caregiver regular, predictable time off.

Good to know

  • Medicare does not pay for adult day care.
  • Utah Medicaid waivers and the Area Agencies on Aging can help pay for people who qualify.
  • The VA covers adult day health care for eligible veterans.
  • Ask about hours, transportation, memory care support and what happens if a participant needs help with toileting.
In an emergency, call 911. For a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), any time.
